Metroplex Cabinets Materials / We do GREEN

Below are some of our commonly used materials. If you don’t see it here, Please don't hesitate to ask about something you're interested in. Some have a stain color already applied and it may not be an accurate rendition of what the material with your stain selection will look like.

NATURAL DARK MAPLE

Natural Dark Maple: Closed grain wood that is creamy white with a dark reddish-brown cast to the heartwood. Mineral streaks are often found and are not considered defective.

Maple: Possesses a uniform texture and is an excellent decision of material for the select grading of color and blending towards the lighter colored finishes

MAPLE

NATURAL DARK ASH

Ash & Natural Dark Ash: Open grain wood that can vary in color from a very white with a slight yellowish cast to a white with a somewhat grayish cast in the sapwood and moving to a definite brown in the heartwood of natural dark ash
ASH

RED OAK
Red Oak: The grain and color of Red Oak are similar and form a reasonable blend. Character, such as burl and pin knots is acceptable. Panel rips are arranged to form a reasonable blend of grain matching and color tones. Some mineral is acceptable.

WHITE OAK
White Oak: Open grain that varies from a whitish light brown sapwood to a grayish dark brown heartwood.

HICKORY / PECAN
Hickory & Pecan: Both are very similar, unique grain pattern and variety of color tones. Require some color selection and few knots (pin knots are acceptable); they have lots of character. We also feel natural dark ash shows similar character

WALNUT
Walnut: Its naturally dark in color and is a very stable wood. It glues and machines well and is a favorite of mill workers. Has a light colored sap streak characteristic that is not considered a defect.

RUSTIC KNOTTY CHERRY

CHERRY / CLEAR
Cherry: Cherry may contain some sapwood on the face (White wood from the outer section of a log). Grain and color are batched to form a reasonable blend. Exposure to the light causes cherry to darken with age, revealing a deep reddish brown tone. Mild gum pockets and streaks are a natural characteristic of cherry and are not considered defects

KNOTTY ALDER

Alder: Similar to maple-with the mild soft grain, but with its own unique characteristics

CLEAR ALDER

MAHOGANY

Mahogany: Has great color and workability, another good craftsman choice.

KNOTTY PINE

Knotty Pine: We brint in a furniture grade that's ideal for "Knotty Pine Millwork"

EASTERN RED CEDAR

RECLAIMED LUMBER

BAMBOO: Its many different blends work ideally for one of our Green Products

Please; ask for more information about our green program

Bamboo: A great substainable, wood substitute. Its full maturity is only 5 to 6 years, grows to 80+ feet. Its considered by the US Green Building Council's LEED rating system, and satisfies there recommendations. Sheet Good Product
